This month's discussion is going to focus on a piece written by Margaret Merga for the Conversation. She poses a great question "what is missing from school literacy policies?". Most of us will know that it is the school library! She talks about different kinds of literacies which include 'content area literacy' and 'disciplinary literacy' so it is well worth a read. https://theconversation.com/every-teacher-needs-to-be-a-literacy-teacher-but-thats-not-happening-in-most-australian-schools-184557
I have posted some questions below to get the conversation started. Please respond under each question or share what you got from reading this article.
If anyone is looking for ideas around how to support reading I have curated a collection of resources that you might find useful. https://www.elizabethahutchinson.com/reading-resources @Rachel Huskisson @Stephanie @Amanda Culpan
